Introduction
Kourosh Petrochemical Industries Development Company (KPID) was originally established in February 2015 in Tehran under the name Petro Fanavari Polymer Karafarin. In 2016, the company officially adopted its current name, Kourosh Petrochemical Industries Development Company.
In mid-2024, KPID decided to play an active role in expanding and completing the value chain of Vinyl Chloride Monomer (VCM) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC). This mission aligns with the national strategic objective of reducing raw material exports and increasing the production of high-value, downstream, and export-oriented petrochemical products.
The company is currently constructing a VCM/PVC production complex with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons. PVC is a key downstream petrochemical product with broad applications across infrastructure, construction, automotive manufacturing, medical devices, food and packaging, and many other industrial sectors.
KPID also plans to expand its product portfolio by producing additional PVC grades, including E-PVC and C-PVC. This diversification aims to ensure a stable supply for domestic downstream industries while enhancing the company’s competitiveness in regional and global markets.
The KPID plant is located in the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) in Mahshahr, Iran. This strategic location provides access to essential utilities, infrastructure, national transportation networks, railways, and other industrial services that support efficient construction and long-term operations.
Sivand Industrial Group currently holds a 60% ownership stake in KPID, while Karafarin Financial Group owns the remaining 40%.
